Summer Resources for Families


Looking for activities for your kids and family to do during the summer? There are plenty of options close to home at area park districts, parks and recreation departments, and libraries . Find something fun to do for low cost or maybe even free this summer by exploring some options below. Palos Heights Library: Explore nature this summer with Palos Heights Public Library's 'Read Beyond the Beaten Path' program which combines summer reading incentives and prizes with some outdoor activities.

Palos Park Library:  Readers of all ages are invited to dive into the ocean depths this summer with the Palos Park Library's "Oceans of Possibilities" Summer Reading Program which runs from June 1st through July 31st. Moraine Valley

Check out Moraine Valley's Summer 2022 offerings which include classes in math, foreign languages, art, technology, and more.

Orland Park

Orland Park Parks & Recreation's Summer 2022 program guide includes summer activities and events.

Market at the Park runs June 2 through August 18 from 4-8 p.m. at Crescent Park in Orland Park. The program includes free music, kids activities, and food. 

Palos Heights

Palos Heights has free and low cost events throughout the summer including summer concerts, movies in the park, a weekly farmers market, and summer camps that run through August.

Palos Hills

Palos Hills Resource and Recreation has summer events and programs for families including sports, and summer camps that run through August. Check out their Summer 2022 guide.

Summer Sports

Check out options for summer basketball, wrestling, and summer football camps which run throughout the summer. DePaul University also has a summer basketball program for kids ages 5 through grade 6 (Mini Demons) and ages 8-17.
