Title I - Parents Right to Know
Title I Parent Notification
We are pleased to announce that all teachers working with students at all District 118 schools meet NCLB criteria to be considered highly qualified. A federal Title I grant funds the Rise and Shine and Lunch Bunch reading tutoring programs at Palos East and partially funds the districtwide pre-kindergarten programs housed at Palos West.
According to federal law, District 118 is required to notify all parents of students in Title I programs that you have the right to request information regarding the professional qualifications of your child’s classroom teacher as well as the qualifications of any teacher aides or paraprofessionals providing services to your child. If at any time your child has been taught for four or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who is not highly qualified, the school will notify you.
Requests for Information
Requests for information must be made in writing to the superintendent’s office. Parents will receive a response to their request for information within 10 business days.
