E-Learning Frequently Asked Questions

• District's may use up to 5 E-Learning days if they are unable to open schools in the event of an emergency such as power outages or inclement weather. Students will attend class remotely on these days.

Families will be notified of a school closing the same way they have been notified in the past (via District voice message, text message, email, website posting, social media, and Emergency Closing Center.)

The 2022-2023 schedules reflect the same amount of synchronous and asynchronous learning time for students as last year, however, the synchronous time online with teachers will be held in the mornings. These schedules will provide flexibility for families in the afternoon.

Palos South students will follow their schedules virtually from 8:15 a.m. to 11:40 a.m. for synchronous instruction with students completing asynchronous assignments in the afternoon. Schedules will be posted in Schoology prior to 8:15 a.m. should an E-Learning Day be called.

Palos East and Palos West will follow their schedules virtually from 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. for synchronous instruction with students completing asynchronous assignments in the afternoon. Schedules will be posted in SeeSaw prior to 8:45 a.m. should an E-Learning Day be called. 

• Your child will be utilizing the same online learning tools they use in their regular classes. Virtual links will be posted by the teacher(s) in the morning.
  • Elementary students can connect using SeeSaw
  • Middle School students can connect using Schoology
• These can be accessed via ClassLink - http://sso.palos118.org

• Parents and/or students can email studenttech@palos118.org for technical assistance. (Your child's school office and teacher will be notified.)

• Attendance will be taken throughout the day by your child's teacher/teachers during synchronous instruction.

• Regular attendance policies remain in place during E-Learning days.

• If your child is unable to attend school via E-Learning, please contact your school's attendance office.

• No. E-Learning days count as regular attendance days.

• Palos 118 school buildings will be closed.
• Parents should contact Ivy League for alternate daycare options.
