Dear 8th Grade Palos South Families,
We are writing you today to send an update on our plans for the upcoming celebration of our Palos South Graduation Class of 2020!
With the support of the PFA graduation committee and district administrators, we have put together what we feel will bring some joy to the families and students that have worked so hard over the past three years by providing one last celebration as graduating students.
As we cannot meet together for the large ceremony we would have had under different circumstances, we have decided to celebrate the students both virtually and in person.
On May 28th, Palos South will perform a virtual graduation ceremony for the graduating class of 2020. This ceremony will be broadcast on the Palos 118 website for all families near and far away to view. Specifics on the virtual ceremony will be shared soon.
Additionally, on May 28th, Palos 118 will be hosting a Graduation Parade within the Palos boundaries. During the parade, students will be allowed the chance to take a picture in front of a balloon archway in their cap, gown, and cord. Cars are welcome to be decorated in any way a family would see fit to celebrate their 8th Grade student. More information on the route, times, pictures, and the parade itself will be shared next week with families.
As stated above, additional information will be shared with families as we get closer to the event. We wanted each of the families to know that we are proud of the work of the graduating class and hope this parade and graduation ceremony allow for celebration during these difficult times around us.
As a reminder, students will be picking up their graduating cap, gown, and cords next week on May 20th – May 22nd at Palos South Middle School.
These times have changed how we live our lives and have us all wondering on what lies next for each of us. Our hope is that each family is staying as safe as possible.
With respect, Mr. Wrzesinski & Ms. Doornbos |
