Meet our Board Members

Nadine Scodro

Ms. Scodro has been a member of the Board of Education since 2007. She is the board vice president and formerly served as the board secretary. Ms. Scodro is the chairperson of the Legislative Committee and vice chair of the Student Learning and Services Committee. She also serves on the Discipline Committee, Safety and Crisis Management Committee and is the SCOPE/Legislative representative. Nadine formerly served on the Buildings and Grounds Committee, Finance, Landscape Beautification, and Policy Committees. Nadine is currently a board representative for SCOPE. She has also served as a board liaison for the Parent Faculty Association (PFA) and the Wellness Committee. In addition, Mrs. Scodro has played an active role in the success of the Cardinal Chase through the years, was a classroom volunteer and a fluency lab volunteer, former PFA hot dog day chairperson, and an executive board member of the PFA. Ms. Scodro’s community service includes serving as a Catechist at Saint Alexander Church and being actively involved in many community projects and events. Ms. Scodro holds a B.A. in Education from National Lewis University and is a former commercial insurance broker for RBN & Associates. Ms. Scodro may be contacted by email at



Pamela Paris
Vice President

Pamela Paris is the current board secretary and has had many active leadership roles within the district. She currently serves as chairperson of the Policy Committee and vice chair of the Legislative Committee. In addition, Pam serves as Board Liaison for the Foundation, PFA, and MPA.

Within the Parent Faculty Association, she served as chair for cardinal courier, hospitality committee and graduation committee. She was also on the executive board as Treasurer and the President of the Association. During her time at 118, she also had many opportunities to work with the teachers and administration. Currently she serves for District 230 as the treasurer for the Stagg Music Boosters and on the Parent Advisory Board for District 230 and thoroughly understand the benefits of the importance of a close connection with District 118 as a feeder district to High School District 230.She is an active member in her church serving as treasurer and on various boards and committees. Mrs. Paris is also the former treasurer and board member of the Association of Women in the Metal Industries and continues to volunteer for other non-profit organizations. She has worked outside the home but now spends her time in the service of others and looks forward to bringing that level of dedication to the 118 school board. Michael Pizur

Mr. Pizur was appointed to the Board of Education in May 2018 and elected to a 4-year term in April 2019.  In addition to serving as board secretary, he is chair of the Finance Committee and is board liaison on the Teachers-Administrators-Board (TAB) and Student Handbook committees.  Previously, he served as chair of the Policy committee.

Mr. Pizur obtained both BBA and MBA from the Graham School of Management at Saint Xavier University.  By trade, he is an independent sales agent in the convenience hardware/home improvement industry.  He is actively involved in the community, volunteering at a homeless shelter and co-chairing a monthly food drive to support an area food pantry.  Mr. Pizur can be contacted by email at



Dr. James Cantorna

Dr. Cantorna was elected to the Board of Education in April 2017. Raised in Beverly and Palos Heights, Dr. Cantorna attended Palos East, Palos South, and Marist High School. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Science, and the University of Illinois College of Medicine. Dr. Cantorna recently went back to graduate school and received an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management in 2015. He is a board certified primary care physician specializing in Internal Medicine as well as Pediatrics, and practices in Munster, Indiana. Dr. Cantorna is married with three children, who all have attended Palos East/South and whose youngest child is a seventh grader at Palos South. Dr. Cantorna may be contacted by email at


Terrence Heafey

Mr. Heafey was appointed to the Board of Education in September 2015 and was subsequently elected to a 4 year term on the board in April 2017. Mr. Heafey is currently the vice chair of the Finance and Facilities and Policy Committees. He is also the liaison for the Wellness Committee. Mr. Heafey was born and raised in Palos Heights and attended Palos East, South, and Sandburg High School. He earned a B.S. in commerce from DePaul University, and is a certified financial planner and president of Brickwork Financial Planning Ltd. Donald Jeanes

Mr. Donald Jeanes was elected to the Board of Education in April 2019 to a 2 year term. He is currently a general contractor and developer for Jeanes Construction Company which he launched over 40 years ago. Mr. Jeanes attended Gage Park High School and finished a carpenter apprenticeship Program at Washburn Trade School. Mr. Jeanes was a trustee of Palos Fire Protection District (1983-1990), served as Palos Park Commissioner (1991-1994), and Palos Park Mayor (1995-1999). He is married with two children who are alumni of Palos 118 and also serves as a volunteer with the Crisis Center for South Suburbia. Katie Thomason

Katie Thomason was elected to the Board of Education in April, 2013 and was reelected in April 2017. She is the chairperson of the Communications and Community Engagement Committee and the Student Learning and Services Committee. Mrs. Thomason is the vice chairperson of the Finance and Facilities Committee. In addition, Katie serves as the board liaison for the PFA and the Wellness Committee. She has previously served on the Policy/Evaluation Practices Committee and was a board representative for SCOPE. Mrs. Thomason currently serves on our Discipline Committee.

Mrs. Thomason is an active member of the community, having serving on the District 230 Student Services Committee, and the Registration and Advancement Chair for Cub Scout Pack 3699. She has also volunteered for many PFA activities, including Sham-Rock-n-Roll, Art Awareness, Hot Dog Day, Mother-Son Bash, and Daisy Scouts. Mrs. Thomason has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois, and an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Business at Northwestern University.
