Welcome to Palos South Middle School!

As the administrative team of Palos South Middle School, we would like to personally thank you for visiting our school website.  Palos South is very proud of our commitment to high academic standards while providing a multitude of opportunities for our students to grow both emotionally and socially as they traverse from the fall of 6th grade to graduating 8th graders.  We are fortunate to have a committed, talented staff that works daily to engage their students in the learning process. We at South realize that middle school students, like all of us are going to make mistakes, but it is much more important in life to learn from and not repeat our missteps.

Palos South is committed to continuing to provide a safe learning environment for all students. This year we will take part in a new district initiative, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), a state funded program to systematically teach students the expected behaviors in all areas of school life. PBIS will further support our school wide discipline system and provide positive incentives for students to “do the right thing”.

The staff of Palos South is dedicated to a philosophy of continuous improvement. We have a relevant curriculum that challenges and differentiates to meet the needs of all students in our building. Multiple points of data are used to progress monitor student strengths and promote growth in other areas.  South further prepares our students to succeed today and in the future, by incorporating the latest in technology in and out of the classroom.  In addition to our regular school day, academic programs are available before and after school to make sure that no student’s needs are left unmet. We are always systemically looking for new ways to help kids learn.

Palos South offers much more to our students than just academics.  Whether it is sports, clubs, band, or our school musical, students have a wide variety of extracurricular activities in which to become involved.  Our Parent Faculty Association (PFA) also provides dances, theme lunches, assemblies, and other fun events. We encourage students to make the most of the unique opportunities that are available at South throughout the year.

One of our goals is that every one of our students at Palos South Middle School feels supported by the administration, staff, community, and parents.  We feel that we have the systems in place to help our students through the challenging years of becoming young adults.

So please come visit us often and if you have any questions never hesitate to contact Lynn or myself at any time either by phone, 708-448-5971 or email cbingen@palos118.org or lzeder@palos118.org .
