Hubbard Street Dance
in Chicago

Hubbard Street has a company that travels with many dancers to perform at many competitions and conventions.  They also teach classes to other people who do not have time or do not wish to be in the company.  They have many great dancers teach these classes like Jim Vincent (who is the director since Aug. 1, 2000), Gail Kalver (an executed director),  and Lou Conte (who is the founder).  They also have over 30 more people on there staff and over 60 people on there board of directors.  The company consists of about 19 people; both girls and boys.  Most of the dancers have been at many ballet schools, choreographed for many events, and have gone to college to pursue there career and get a deeper education. When they are in the company they have to be ready to work hard and go on tour to perform for many audiences around the globe. Some of the dancing they do at Hubbard Street is theater dance, jazz, ballet, and modern. Also, Lou Conte has a studio called The Lou Conte Dance Studio which is where his Company is.  They have to train a lot before they go to perform in front of big audiences.  Also, many people think that dance is easy and if they had classes they can do it any day. But, it is not easy and Hubbard Street dancers are proof that it is not easy because they practice a lot to be perfect.  They have to go perform in front of a large audience which is very scary and nerve-wracking.  In my opinion,  Hubbard Street is a really great place to dance at and if you are thinking of performing, I would recommend trying out for the Lou Conte Company.
