Civil War

     You are a member of a company of soldiers in a major civil war battle. You are to gather information about the various aspects of your battle.
 
 

     GOALS:
     The students will: 1) recognize that war is dangerous.
                               2) be able to differentiate between types of injuries.
                               3) realize that wounds were not the only cause of death.
                               4) recognize that battles are complex events.
                               5) relate the human factor to statistics.
                               6) understand that the feelings of civil war soldiers
                                   transcend time and mirror the the feelings of soldiers in
                                   all wars.

      SHARE YOUR IDEAS:
      Your group will prepare a packet. The packet will include; information on the battle, maps, a journal, a letter home, medical treatment and problems, and a page analyzing the battle statistics. The grades will be based upon a teacher-student generated rubric.
