UNDERSTANDING WORLD WAR I THROUGH THE ARTS Project Scenario
Project Goals
- Paintings, photos, posters, poetry, and music were a reflection of the Great War.
- Students will use the arts as a starting point to gain a better understanding of the causes and effects of WW I.
- The students will select one aspect of the arts to gain a better understanding of what is happening in the World and the United States.
Places to Start
- Research a work of art (one work or genre of art) from the World War I era.
- The reaearch will take the form of a class presentation.
- The students will be able to recognize the role of the arts as it is related to the conflict.
- The students will have the opportunity to compare their research with others working on similiar art forms. This will help them share ideas for their presentations.
