Lost Poets of the Great War

Grade Level:  7
After being exposed to several poems from the Great War, cooperative groups of students will select a war poet to study in depth.  Students will use a variety of media to research the life, work, and death of their selected poet.  Using the personas of an army captain, military nurse, and war correspondent, the students will produce a variety of written products -- a letter of condolence, a narrative account of a battle, and an obituary for a literary figure.  The products will be collected and published.  Products will be evaluated with a student generated rubric.  Each group will share one of its products with the class.
