St. Joan of Arc
Joan of Arc was a lonesome peasant girl that helped save the French empire. She was born in Domremy, France. When Joan was around the age of 13 she thought she heard St. Michael, St. Catherine, and St. Margaret. She believed they were sent from god. They told her to cut off her hair and put on man's clothes and then go and fight for France. When she fought for France she was a great leader. In the battle of Orleans in May of 1429, Joan led her solders into a great victory over England. Some people were scared for the solders because they thought Joan wasn't a good leader. Then they were extra scared because they were going to fight Lord Talbot from England (His troops were very good!!) Most of the English troops and Commander Sir John Fasolfe's troops fled the battle field right when Joan's solders started to attack them.
When Charles VII was crowned king of France on July 17, 1429 in Reims Cathedral, Joan was right there next to him. In 1430 she was captured by the Bourguignon solders in Compiegne, a city near Paris, and if that was not bad enough, she was then sold to the British her enemies. She was 19 years old when the British burned her at the stake in the Rouen marketplace in England on May 30, 1431. The worst part was that the king of France did not even try to help her. At least now Joan is acknowledged for what she did and the reward is she is now Saint Joan of Arc.

Questions:
1. Do you think Joan got what she deserved? Why or why not?
2. If you were in Joan's place would you have done the same? Why or why not?
3. What should the king have done in your opinion?
