Costumes of Royalty
By: Margaret  & Rebecca

How would you like to be Queen/King? Not just ordering people around and making your own rules, but wearing a crown and holding a septor. Maybe you think it could be fun and a new expierience, but at sometimes it could be really tough. Does planning wars and taking care of millions of problems sound easy to you? Well, we're not going to tell you about the hard stuff of being royalty, but the comfort and clothing of it.

As you probably know, Queens wore long silky garmets. Garmets are a long, drayping dress. Some can be different, but these are the ones that royalty wore.If you were a noble/wealty woman, you'd wear probably the same thing but not as fancy as the Queen.

Now, Kings on the other hand, wore pants that were  a special colored velvet. Or, if they were in the mood, they would wear  "Pumpkin Pants".Some wealthy men would wear velvet skirts with special made tights. Feathered hats were also popular, except the King would wear his crown.

Well, everyone had to wear shoes! All women, even the Queen, wore soft, short, shoes or booties made of a leather material. The shoes almost looked like socks! Men wore shoes similar to the women's. The only difference was that the toes weren't as exaggerated and there shoes were attatched to their leather leggings.

              Questions:
1.Did royalty wear colors of their country? What were the most common colors?
   2. Why did some shoes that people wear have pointed toes? (Was it for fashion or for a reason?)
3.Were royalty first to see the new fashions the tailor had made?
