CASTLE DEFENSE

The only people who had knights were kings, lords, and the wealthy. Knights were kept around to protect their lord or master because they would give them land called a fief. Also, for protection the lords had holes in the top of their castle for the archers or later the people firing the cannons to shoot from in battle because it's harder for the enemy to shoot you. This kind of architecture is called dentistry. Other times they would fight up close with swards, axes, and spheres. Some times people would even throw dead cows from the castle meant to spread disease among the enemy or to act as a stink bomb. Also, people would throw down boiling water, hot coals, boiling oil, and dead cats also to spread disease. Moats also helped defend the castle. What is a moat you might ask? Well a moat is a some what wide stream that runs around the castle (depth varies). The water is really gross and full of all different kinds of fish; sometimes even alligators. So if anyone wanted to get into the castle they'd have to swim across first. But if you weren't an enemy you would be able  to take a bridge across (no paddles needed) called a draw bridge. This is a bridge that they lay down across the moat so that the good guy can cross safely. These are just some of the great many ways that people (knights) defended the castle.

Why would dead animals spread disease?

When was the Viking sward invented and what did it look like?

In the Medieval times what did people believe in (be specific)?
