The Wide Window
A review by George Marker
If  you don't like sad, unfortunate books, then I would not read this book. It is about three orphans and one aunt that are scared for their lives. The book is The Wide Window by Lemony Snicket.

To begin with, the setting is Aunt Josephine's house and Lake Lachmose. Lake Lachmose  is deadly because there is a hurricane, there is a cave on an island, and there are deadly leeches. Aunt Josephine's house is scary because it's on a cliff, and Count  Olaf knows where it is. The Lake is also exciting because the Baudelaire orphans find a sailboat, and they see Lavender Lighthouse.

There are a lot of characters in this book. Violet is brave because she sails through Hurricane Herman and takes care of her sibling. Klaus is smart because he reads a lot and he invents things.

The Baudlaire orphans try to stay away from Count Olaf. First, the Baudlaire orphans move to their Aunt Josephine's house.  Then, they sail to Cable Cave.  Finally, they see Count Olaf. The theme is mystery.

In conclusion, The Wide Window was a good book. Lemony Snicket uses a lot of cliff hangers. The book made you want to keep reading. I would compare this book to Harry Potter. I would recommend this book to people that like to read. The next book is even better.
