It is silent nap time on the island of Rhodes. The air is light, and you
can hear the waves hitting the beach from five blocks away. You can smell
the fresh flowers in the air. The book I read is called The Mystery
of the Hidden Hand by Phyllis A. Whitney.
The Mystery of the Hidden Hand is set in the present day in Greece on the island of Rhodes. Rhodes is beautiful because of its beach. It also has ancient places and the most exquisite gardens. Rhodes is a peaceful place because of its ocean. The cities are never crowded and the fountains are so relaxing. The cities of Rhodes are very ancient. The buildings are old and ancient. The museums are filled from top to bottom with artifacts. This is the perfect place for Gale, the main character, because she likes to explore. The main character in The Mystery of the Hidden Hand is Gale. Gale is twelve years old and has short hair. Gale has many talents; one of them is she can speak well. She is also good at finding and solving things. Gale is also bright because she found out Tassoula’s talent of painting. She also figured out that Geneva was the person in the black cape, and she solved the mystery of the hidden hand. Gale is also an explorer. She explored Grandfather Thanos’s garden before she knew him. She explored the museums by herself and discovered the bookshelf that held the missing tiles. Gale finds a lot of the clues that make the story suspenseful. The problem in The Mystery of the Hidden Hand is that the Grandfather Thanos needs to admit he is a thief. There is a mysterious person in the black cape and the finding of the broken tile. The suspense increased as Nicos took something out of the desk of the Grandfather Thanos. The desk was locked at the time. The theme of the book was that everyone has talent. Gale discovered this at the end. She thought she had no talent, but she found out that she did.
My overall impression of the book was that it was not a very good book.
The mystery was not very exciting, and it was not enjoyable reading.
On the other hand, it had a good theme about everyone has a talent. The
author could have improved on the mystery. I would only recommend this
book to people that don't like mysteries.
