| Seven people, one game,
and one Egypt. There are ceremonies and people dancing. Kids are thinking
of good ideas for the game that they are playing. The Egypt Game
is the book for you. The author is Zilpha Keatly Snyder.
The time is winter and the place is the professor's backyard. April and her friends create a make-believe Egypt in the professor's backyard. The setting is scary because there is a murderer that is loose, and Toby saw someone at night. Also, Egypt has ceremonies. The ceremonies contain fires, dances, and oracles. It is exciting. The Egypt Game is always going on and there are always new ideas, because when they are finished with the Egypt Game they will play a new game. April, the main character, is about 13 and looks like a movie star. April is really clever. She is the one that thought of the game. She reads a lot of books and gets information from them. She's the one that thought of writing the Hieroglyphics. She is also brave. She goes at night to Egypt when a murderer is loose. The main problem in the novel is that the group of kids didn't want anyone to find out about the Egypt game. First, the Egypt game starts, then a murderer is loose, next Ken and Toby start to play the game. April learns that you have to talk to someone instead of just judging them from what they look like. My overall impression of the book is fantastic because the author gives good descriptions of the characters. Also, the author uses a lot of foreshadowing in her book, but she needs more metaphors. I would recommend this book to sixth and seventh graders. The name of the book is The Egypt Game, and if you want to read it, see a library near you for more information. |
