Grade Level Goals
Grade 6 (Quarters)
The sixth grade curriculum is an extension of the work done at the elementary level at a more advanced stage. We will be studying aspects of music theory, history, appreciation and performance through listening, performance and composition activities.
Grade 7 (6 Weeks)
Along with studying the basic elements of music, the seventh grade curriculum concentrates on rhythm. The students get the opportunity to compose rhythm patterns and compositions.
Grade 8 (Trimester)
The eighth grade curriculum centers around the history of Western music. Composers and their compositions from the periods of Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Contemporary are focused on through listening, performance and composition activities.
**All three grade levels get the experience of learning how to play the keyboards. Each grade level works through the units so by the end of eighth grade they have completed the piano book.
