Palos area residents
will have an opportunity in early August to
check out Trio, a new restaurant opening on
Southwest Highway in Palos Heights, and support
the Palos 118 Educational Foundation’s
fundraising efforts at the same time.
The owners of Trio,
an upscale sports bar slated to open by the end
of July, are getting off to an early start
supporting their new community. They are
providing dinner, a full upscale open bar, and
rousing dueling pianos for the fundraiser, and
100 percent of the ticket revenue will go toward
the Foundation’s current project – outfitting
the Applied Technology Lab at Palos South.
The new restaurant
is a little difficult to describe, according to
Joe Lombardo, one of the three owners. “It’s
definitely at place to watch sports – we have 16
large plasma TVs. But it also offers upscale
dining, live entertainment, and special events.
For example, we’ll have dueling pianos every
Saturday and local bands every Friday, and we’re
offering Manicures & Martinis on Wednesday.
We’ll have manicurists on site and each manicure
will come with a free martini.” The full menu
will include salads, sandwiches, ribs, steak,
chicken, pastas, and other American fare.
Invitations to the
Trio fundraiser, which runs from 6 p.m. to 9
p.m. on Aug. 7, have been mailed to previous
supporters of the Foundation’s fundraising
activities. Anyone who would like tickets or
more information should contact Kathy Golding,
Honey Baked Ham, 11845 Southwest Highway,
448-8579. Golding is a former Palos 118
Educational Foundation director. Tickets are $50
per person, and space is limited.
The Palos 118
Educational Foundation -- an all-volunteer
organization dedicated to supporting excellence
in our elementary and middle schools – was
created nine years ago. It has partnered with
businesses, the legislature and individuals to
revamp and improve the Palos South Media Center,
replace outdated playground equipment at both
Palos East and West, and equip new science labs
at all three schools. In addition, the
Foundation sponsors the annual Laps for
Literature, a self-sustaining program to
purchase books for the media centers.
