Palos Township
"Our Town"
By: Mrs. Balayti's Fifth Grade Class

How much do you know about Palos Township?
We were asked the same question, and didn’t really have an answer. That’s how we first started this project in 2001.  We wanted to help our school district celebrate its 160th birthday and decided to learn about the history of many of the places we go to in our township. We first started by making a list of all the memorable places in the Palos area. We sorted them into groups of Recreation, Points of Interest, Landmarks, Forest Preserves, and Shops. Then we started our quest to find information. After a lot of research, interviews and picture gathering we started to create our web pages, and we burned CDs to distribute to our community.

After recognizing our original project with a special award, the city of Palos Heights asked us to expand our website.  The fifth graders of 2002 conducted more research and interviews to add information about our town's schools, city government, and civic clubs.  After all of our hard work, we are finally finished! We hope you read and enjoy our web pages and learn about OUR TOWN!!

Special Thanks to Mrs. Balayti, Mrs. Basch and Mr. Melfi for assisting us in the completion of this project.
