to the Learning Resource Program at Palos East School
 

The Learning Resource Program at Palos East School is a combination of a pull-out program and an inclusion program. Sometimes the L.D. teacher goes into  the classroom to work with the child on the lesson that is being done in the room.  This is usually done during math, reading, or social studies.  At times  it might be necessary to take the child into the L.D. teacher's room for individual instruction and to reinforce a particular skill. The L.D. teacher must be constantly re-evaluating what the student needs and design a program that will meet his/her needs. She will have to decide what accommodations and modifications must be made in the classroom to ensure academic success. It is very important that the L.D. teacher and the classroom teacher work very closely together and modify the class work when necessary. The parents are also very important as a part of the team that is constantly monitoring the child's progress and making adjustments when necessary. 

Our staff includes:
Racquel Insalaco  -  4th and 5th Grade
Amy Rohan  -  Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Grade (Maureen Mahoney will cover Mrs. Rohan's maternity leave through November, 2007.)
