Coding is a strategy that can be used with fiction and nonfiction texts. Students can place a code onto a small sticky note. Students can place the codes that reflect their feelings and thoughts of the selected passages in the text. Then, they can place the sticky notes on these pages. These notes provide students with ideas for discussion.
