Welcome to Mrs. Marks’ Second Grade

Let me tell you about my classroom.  Our motto is “We are all together under one sky.”  The boys and girls know that I am all about fairness, kindness, and respect.

We start each day with a few songs:

Good, better, best,

     Never let it rest,

           Until the good is better

                   And the better is BEST!”

“Make new friends but

  keep the old.

                                  One is silver and the

                                  other’s gold.”

You are the b-e-s-t, Best of all the r-e-s-t, rest

and I will l-o-v-e love you all the t-i-m-e time!!!!!

Our Class Rules:

READING IS ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA!!!!!!!

One more thing you should know about me is that I try to give the children some opportunities to move and stretch throughout the day.  Brain research tells us that movement is good for learning.  It stimulates the brain and helps dendrites grow and make good connections.  We do this with song, drama or rhymes with actions.  It’s fun and makes the day more pleasant and enriching for the children.  Additionally, creativity is a most cherished commodity. Children are best at it and entitled to it. I seize every opportunity to let them express it. In an age when buttons and clicks light up everything, I still believe that crayons and paper can be magical. Mostly, you should know that I love what I do, always have, always will………………

I am deeply committed to your child’s education and well-being. Always let me know if there are any questions or concerns about your child.
