one may check out
Kindergarten-one book
First Grade-two library book & one dot book (unless
teacher specifies otherwise)
Second thru Fifth Grade-three books
Loan Period
Kindergarten thru Second Grade-Students may keep items
for one week.
Third thru Fifth Grade-Students may keep items for two
weeks.
*All students are encouraged to return the books to the media
center when they are finished.*
Renewals
All students may renew their books as long as there are no
holds on the book. Notify Mrs. Curran or Mrs. Gamauf if
you would like to renew your books. You do not have the
bring the books into the library. Books may only be
renewed twice.
Fines
Kindergarten thru Second Grade-We do not charge fines for
overdue books; however,
students must return an overdue book before additional books may
be checked out.
Third thru Fifth Grade-Fines accumulate at a rate of
$0.05 a day after a three day grace period.
Lost or Damaged
Books
Students who lose or damage books beyond repair will be charged
the replacement cost of the book. Parents may give permission
for their children to check out more books while lost books are
being looked for by contacting
Mrs. Curran. Bills for damaged books will be sent home
the next school day. Bills for a lost book will be sent
home one month after the book was due.
At Palos East we
strive to teach our students to select their books
independently. If you notice your child is bring home
materials at an inappropriately high or low level of difficulty,
please discuss this with your child first.
