I would like to tell you a little about myself so that we can begin to get to know each other. I received my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education from Governors State University. I completed my student teaching in Mrs. Ramoley’s First Grade class right here at Palos East School. After completing seventeen weeks of student teaching I was hired at Palos East as an instructional aide for the remainder of the year. This is my second year as a First Grade teacher, and I am so excited for this school year!

I do believe that we have an amazing year in store for us, and I can’t wait to dive right into learning. I have enjoyed my latest venture in higher education and I hope to share my love of learning with your child!

Classroom Information

Take Home Folder – Your child will bring home a red take home folder every night. This folder is courier for information between home and school. Please take time to look through the information each night and then send it back to school the next day.

Newsletters – Every month you will receive my classroom newsletter. This newsletter will give you information about what is happening in our classroom as well as what we will be doing in the future. You will also find helpful reminders and notes!

Book Orders – I will send home at least one book order each month. Each order form will have a note attached that states the date the order is due. Please send checks only! Please make checks payable to “Scholastic Book Clubs.” Each order that I send in gives our classroom bonus points. These bonus points are used to purchase items for our classroom, such as books and tapes! Thanks in advance for contributing to our classroom!

School Lunch – School lunches are $2.30 and include milk. Milk is $.30 if you bring cold lunch. Thursday is the only day during the week that you can purchase lunch tokens. I will send your child’s lunch tokens home with them that day. Please send your child to school with their lunch token on the day(s) that they would like to purchase lunch.

Reading Logs – As part of the 1^st grade homework requirement, your child should be reading every night. Please help your child fill out their reading log each night so that I can keep track of what types of books the children are reading. At the end of the month, those children that have read every night will be allowed to go to the reading cart that will visit our classroom. I would love for every child to be able to participate in their exciting experience each month!

All About Me

Prior to you child’s special “All About Me” week a poster will be sent home with your child to be completed as a family. On the Monday of your child’s special week, please make sure that your child brings in their completed poster along with 6 pictures to be used on their special board. On the Monday of that week your child will be sharing their poster and pictures with the class. This is a great opportunity for the children to get to know each other and to practice their social skills with each other. I am looking forward to learning ALL ABOUT each one of your children.
