To Maximize the Educational Potential of Every Student
to be a Successful Life-Long Learner

This goal represents the belief that each child can learn and that the Mission requires high expectations to develop this potential in each pupil.  Action targets focus on expanding the opportunities and programs for students to better accomplish this.

Action Target:  To explore the concept of a full day kindergarten experience for pupils in Palos 118 focusing on the impact this will have on student development and future academic success.

  • Timeline: 

    (2008-09) Reporting to the Board May 2009

  • Scope:         

    This goal will begin to focus on information gathering encompassing parent interest, curriculum, cost and facilities.

Action Target:  To develop a working model of a 21st century classroom in each school which contains the most current advances in technology support for education.

  • Timeline: 

    (2008-11) Reporting to the Board annually in May of 2009, 2010, and 2011.

  • Scope:         

    To develop a technology advanced learning classroom for use in teacher training and student instruction in each district school.

Action Target:  To expand elective opportunities for middle school pupils including fine arts and an applied technology lab.

  • Timeline: 

    (2007-2009) Reporting to the Board in May of 2009.

  • Scope:         

    To expand the middle school elective program to provide greater pupil opportunities and choice focusing on an applied tech lab, art, music, and foreign language.
