Community Consolidated School District 118 Mission and Education
Goals
The Mission, Vision and Beliefs of
Palos 118 focus on providing the best education possible for children. The
Board of Education annually develops goals and action targets designed to
accomplish the Mission. There are five major district goals. Action
targets for these goals identify the working focus to accomplish the goals
and to meet the continued expectation for excellence in our schools.
Goal
I
To Maximize the Educational Potential of Every Student
to be a Successful
Life-Long Learner
This goal
represents the belief that each child can learn and that the Mission
requires high expectations to develop this potential in each pupil. Action
targets focus on expanding the opportunities and programs for students to
better accomplish this.
Action
Target: To explore the concept of an enhanced
kindergarten experience for pupils focusing on expanding instructional time
for students who would most benefit while controlling costs and space use.

Scope:
This goal is designed to
gather information that will assist the Board of Education in
determining what if any direction it will take in regards to developing
an expanded instructional opportunity for students who would benefit
from additional support services at the Kindergarten level.

Board Committee:
Support for this goal will be
provided by the Board Finance and Buildings and Grounds Committees
Action Target: To
develop each of Palos 118 Schools to contain the most current advances in
technology support for instruction.

Scope:
To develop
technology advanced classrooms in each district school.

Support for this goal will be provided by the Board Technology,
Buildings and Grounds/Life Safety, and Finance Committees.
