Vikings
The Vikings were a group of very fierce warriors that raided towns during
the Middle Ages,
specifically from the years 800-1100. Thor, the god of war was a Viking. They
had over 10,000 tribes. They destroyed towns by water. Independent farmers
owned their own land. They had come from Norway, Scandinavia, Denmark,
and Sweden. Some of their occupations were merchants, craftsman, and pirates.
They were also excellent ship builders and explorers. An explorer, Leif
Ericson was known to find North America, but he did not claim it. Their
homes only had one room for the family to share. Viking boys helped their
fathers with their work, and girls helped their mothers often. For recreation
the Vikings would play games similar to checkers and chess. The
Vikings
also liked to gamble. The Vikings drank heavily, and honored death. The
Vikings sailed in longboats. They had many benefits from the longboats.
One of them was that the boat was so long it fit many people. The Vikings
were one of the most powerful groups ever!
