AFTERSHOCKS Aftershocks
occur after a larger earthquake. They
can strike hours, days, or even months afterwards. Aftershocks have been known to do more
damage and destruction than the real earthquake…Why? There are two main reasons for this 1.
Areas (buildings, structures, roads, etc.) are
already weakened from the earthquake.
As the aftershock happens it continues to do more damage and cause
total devastation. 2.
People may not be ready for the aftershocks to
happen. Aftershocks are not predictable
and can strike at any time. Thus,
causing more damage and harm. |
